When the last bell rang he came to
her and handed the piece of paper which he was scribbling in the last period. A
moment of silence was there when he saw her staring at him with the deepest
devotion. She wanted to run home, open the letter, read it aloud and tell him
that she loved him but never uttered a word! Each tiny droplets of sweat rained
through her rosy face standing beside him near the classroom door. She wanted
to hold his hand but was trembling in fear. He looked into her eyes, his blue
eyes was deep as the Pacific Ocean. Wished if she could be his favorite dolphin
floating beside.
“Davis” called out his friends. She
felt a tiny stroke of kiss on her cheek and then the bell rang for dispersal.
He smiled and left her stand still in the corridor wondering what just
happened.
She wanted to reciprocate the kiss
but he was long gone. Thinking about meeting him the next day, she just realized
that it was the summer vacation. And now she should wait for two long months. She
stood there waving goodbye until she could see this last glimpse.
Somehow she reached home and with so
many things unsaid her heart was heavy. She wanted to see him, hold his hands
and take a long walk. Someone said right, ‘unsaid feelings hurt the most”. She
went inside and locked the door to open his token of love. There were mixed
feelings of curiosity, excitement and nervousness. Not meeting him for the next
two months was okay she felt because now she can survive with his letter.
But finishing the letter was not so
easy.
Tears trembled down the cheeks as
she read,
Dear Shalu,
“I always wanted to tell you but I never
had the courage. I love you with whole my heart. I can’t resist my eyes which
keeps searching for you. But, I will be going to a new school after the summer
vacation. Somewhere I don’t know. I will miss you. I guess we would meet one
day. I love you. I always will. "
“What
happened?” asked everyone.
“Nothing”. She said, somehow
controlling the fountain of tear gland. Little did they knew that this
nothing meant everything.
Summer came
and winter passed by.
Yet another
Summer vacation came and yet another Shalu was born.
A story filled with warmth
